“What an incredible spot! We booked very last minute after deciding we wanted to leave Salvador for a night, and Toni responded immediately, and came and picked us up on the side of the road where we’d dropped by the Kombi. Over the past year he’s constructed an amazing set up on his property, mostly from rectangle panels of bamboo and glass that he got from a hotel that was closing. From that, he built an outdoor kitchen and shower, a composting toilet, a “living room” under the trees, and a 3-story tree house, and there are also a handful of camping tents. We were the first to sleep on the 3rd story, and he’d just hung gauzy fabric to serve as mosquito netting that evening, so he gave us needle and thread to serve as our “keys” so we could sew ourselves in. It was a pretty magical place to sleep- soft breeze kept us cool, lullabies from the forrest birds, and morning greeting from the neighborhood roosters, and we were totally protected from an early morning rainstorm. The next day he took us to a gorgeous local beach where we had lunch. All in all a great time, and we loved meeting the other travelers passing through his spot, and spending time with his two dogs and cats. It’s an unconventional set up, but would definitely recommend!”
